Puppy Obedience Foundations

Classes Start January 2026!

For Dogs who are Under 6 months of age!

Our Puppy Obedience Foundations class is designed specifically for puppies under 6 months of age, focusing on early learning, confidence-building, and creating a strong foundation for a lifetime of good behavior. In a safe, supportive group environment, you and your puppy will learn essential skills while strengthening your bond through positive, reward-based training.

These highly interactive and fun group classes emphasize engagement, appropriate play, and early social development—helping your puppy learn how to focus, learn, and succeed in the real world. We will guide you through age-appropriate training exercises while also discussing critical puppy topics such as socialization, play, and preventing common problem behaviors before they begin.

Over the course of 6 sessions, you and your puppy will build foundational obedience skills, impulse control, and confidence in new environments—all while keeping training enjoyable and stress-free.

We welcome puppies of all breeds and sizes, as long as they are age-appropriately vaccinated. With a maximum of 6 puppies per class, each puppy receives personalized guidance and support from our expert trainers.

You Will Learn:

How puppies learn and how to capture and maintain your puppy’s attention

How to use positive reinforcement and reward-based training effectively

Age-appropriate play and why it’s essential for development, confidence, and bonding

Proper leash handling for puppies

How to build focus and calm behaviors in exciting environments

How to read your puppy’s body language and communicate clearly

How to apply training skills at home and in everyday life

Your Puppy Will Learn:

Name recognition and engagement

Recall foundations (coming when called)

Sit, Down, and early Stay skills

A release cue

Calm and polite greetings

No jumping

Impulse control basics

Loose leash walking foundations

Neutrality in new environments

Place/settle skills

Hand targeting and fun foundation tricks

Confidence-building through structured play and exploration and exposure

We welcome any breed, size, or age of dog who are needing a little support in mastering some Foundational Obedience.

*All dogs must have up to date vaccinations*

I require proof of up-to-date Rabies and Distemper/Parvo Vaccinations to be submitted to me before our classes. Although the Kennel Cough vaccination is not mandatory- I do highly recommend it.

*Our classes are not suitable for Highly Reactive or Aggressive Dogs*

If your dog barks and lunges at other people and/dogs- please call us and we will discuss what is the best course of action for your dog. Our group classes generally have at least 5 other dogs and their owners, so we need to set everyone, including your dog, up to win. A group class is not necessarily the right first step for your dog to learn with us. We need to meet your dog where they’re at- and that’s in a few private lessons. Once your dog is ready to work around other dogs- we will happily welcome them into class.

*A Note on Missed classes*

If you miss a class, you will still receive the recap notes that get sent out to all the students.

We do not offer free make-up classes.

You can also reserve a spot to make it up for a small fee- or if there is another class on the same session as the one you’ve missed- you may be able to join that.

Please talk to your trainer if you anticipate missing any classes.
